"Il Romitorio di monte Tezio"

Farm Holidays completely restored

It was a 12th century monastery

Lies at about 600 meters above sea level

with a view of Assisi to the east,

and of the lake Trasimeno to the west.

Situated in the heart of Umbria, within the Monte Tezio nature park in the Municipality of Perugia, this ancient structure provides an ideal center for visiting the principal art cities of central Italy, such as Perugia, Assisi, Gubbio, Todi, Cortona, Arezzo, Siena, Spoleto, Orvieto and the Chianti area.

It is also the perfect starting-point for discovering medieval hamlets and small villages which are less well-known but no less rich in attraction.

The structure of the Convent has not altered over the centuries.

The old cells - now enlarged and provided with all modern comforts - are at the disposal of our guests. In the ancient Church (built on a block of quartz the positive characteristics of which were evidently already known in the thirteenth century) guests may read or meditate.

The monastery, now renovated and complete with all modern conveniences, features seven bedrooms and two flats (the first sleeping 3 and the second no less than 7); nevertheless in its details and in the flavours of the exquisitely prepared dishes, it skilfully preserves the values of the past.

Guests can stroll over the broad meadows, traverse the numerous footpaths of the Monte Tezio nature park, or relax in the sun admiring the panoramic view.

From the benches of the terrace, the ample view enables guests to decide on the destination for a delightful excursion, discovering the historic and natural beauties of Umbria and Tuscany, meandering through the valleys and hills to arrive at the glittering Trasimeno lake.

Seven splendid bedrooms and two small flats sleeping from three to seven persons, each with a different theme and colors, with its own special atmosphere and an incredible view over the surrounding towns, the lake or the mountains. Furnished with austere elegance, and attention to every last detail. All fully equipped with bathroom, heating, television, safe, and some with a kitchen corner, fireplace and independent entrance.

In the former stables, now transformed into a small and atmospheric restaurant, visitors may enjoy good wine and savour the typical dishes of rural vegetarian cuisine.
